The Department of Tamil was started in the year 1971 and further pursued in self-financing, as well, from 1992. Our department has been functioning with five faculty members. It is a privilege to have two Doctoral degree holders and two NET qualified staff in this department.The Department of Tamil envisions to be a vibrant centre of Tamil Studies where research in diverse fields of Tamil language have been carried out.

In the year 2020 -21 BA with Tamil Major was introduced.This is one more feather to the cap.In order to widen the horizon, the students of our department are motivated to participate in various competitive fields and they bring laurels to the Institution.This faculty stands tall with pride with its successfull gatherings like the International Seminar, symposium and forums inviting renowned Tamil expects from other institutions across the country.
